MARIA M. OLMEDA, M.D. specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive disorders and the performance of endoscopic procedures. It is her goal to provide the best possible compassionate adult Gastroenterological care in one cutting-edge practice. Dr. Olmeda earned her Doctorate in Medicine at Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico. She then completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. This was followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation, also in New Orleans, where she was the Chief Gastroenterology Fellow.

Since completion of her fellowship in 2001, Dr. Olmeda has been in private practice prior to joining the team at Coastal Gastroenterology in 2016. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Olmeda is bilingual in English and Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and swimming.
